How to register
- Apply to the Office of Athlete Agents (pr.mo.gov/athleteagents.asp; athleteagents@pr.mo.gov) — $70 + $32 background checks; fingerprints may be required (§ 436.225, eff. Aug. 28, 2025)
- If the athlete initiated contact: you may act (except signing) for up to 7 days while your application is submitted (§ 436.224.2)
- Include the prescribed warning text (§ 436.242.3)
- After signing: notify the athletic director within 72 hours or before the next event (§ 436.245.2)
- Renew every two years

What the statute is silent on
Silence is not permission and not prohibition — the statute simply does not address these.

Penalties
§ 436.263 (verbatim): "1. Any individual who violates any provision of sections 436.215 to 436.272 is guilty of a class A misdemeanor and liable for a civil penalty not to exceed one hundred thousand dollars. 2. Any individual who knowingly violates any provision of sections 436.215 to 436.272 is guilty of a class E felony and liable for a civil penalty not to exceed one hundred thousand dollars."
Civil action (§ 436.260): actual damages, costs, attorney's fees, forfeiture of agent compensation; violation deemed an unfair trade practice.

RSMo §§ 436.215-436.272 ('Uniform Athlete Agents Act', enacted 2004 SB 1122; RUAAA-style rewrite eff. Aug. 28, 2021 (HB 273); § 436.225 fingerprint authority added eff. Aug. 28, 2025)
'Student athlete' (§ 436.218(19)) covers 'any interscholastic or intercollegiate sport'; 'interscholastic sport' defined as competition between non-college institutions — high school covered. 'Agency contract' includes endorsement contracts; 'athlete agent' reaches advisory/business-management-only representation. Missouri kept the old 'UAAA' citation name despite the Revised-model rewrite — do not classify by name alone.
NIL interaction
No standalone NIL act inside ch. 436 — the 2021 rewrite baked NIL in via the endorsement-contract definition (§ 436.218(7): 'publicity, reputation, following, or fame').
